The process of removable braces (Invisalign) typically involves the following steps:
Initial Consultation
The orthodontist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. They will also discuss your treatment options and explain the process to you.
Impressions and Digital Scans
The orthodontist will take impressions or digital scans of your teeth to create a detailed map of your dental structure.
Treatment Planning
Your orthodontist will use the digital scans to create a customized treatment plan that will map out the movement of your teeth throughout the course of your treatment.
Fabrication of Aligners
Using the treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners will be created for you.
Wearing the Aligners
You will wear the aligners for about 22 hours a day, only taking them out for eating, brushing, and flossing. You will replace them every two weeks with a new set of aligners that will continue to move your teeth into the desired position.
Progress Check-ups
Your orthodontist will schedule regular check-ups to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
Retention
After the treatment is completed, your orthodontist will give you a retainer to wear to help keep your teeth in their new position.
Follow-up Visits
The orthodontist will schedule regular follow-up visits to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
It’s important to note that the duration of the treatment varies depending on the individual case but typically between 6-18 months. Your orthodontist will be able to give you a more accurate estimate based on your individual case.
