Initial Consultation
Your periodontist or oral surgeon will examine your teeth and gums to determine if gum grafting is the appropriate treatment for your condition. They may also take X-rays to get a better look at the health of your teeth and gums.

Anesthesia
Gum grafting is usually done under local anesthesia or IV sedation to minimize discomfort. The area around the teeth being treated will be numbed with a shot of local anesthesia.

Tissue Harvesting
The periodontist or oral surgeon will remove a small piece of tissue from the roof of the mouth (palate) or another donor source, such as cadaver tissue or tissue from another area of the patient's mouth.

Graft Placement
The grafted tissue will be carefully placed over the exposed roots and sutured in place. The sutures will be removed after a week or two.

Healing
After the procedure, the grafted tissue will begin to integrate with the existing gum tissue. The healing process can take several weeks, and you will be given instructions on how to care for your gums during this time.

Follow-Up Visits
Your periodontist or oral surgeon will schedule follow-up visits to monitor your progress and ensure that the grafted tissue is healing properly.

Maintenance
It's important to maintain good oral hygiene and have regular check-ups and cleaning to prevent recurrence of the condition.
